Tip: Instead of deducting electronics, better secure a discount on the electronics.

With the usual home electronics like computers, hi-fi, TV, and so on, one is used to rather small margins in retail. With the "white goods" for the kitchen, it is different; cooktops, ovens, dishwashers, extractor hoods, refrigerators, and the like offer great discount buffers for the providers. Since these devices hardly differ in manufacturing from the basic to the top model and the margins for retail are not the same from basic to premium, the likelihood of a discount increases with the "premium" classification.

All kitchen offers we received did not show the individual prices of the electrical appliances. When I looked at the model names, I was quite surprised. The selected induction cooktop alone costs between 3200 and 3600 euros online. I don't remember exactly how much was charged to us, but it definitely didn't start with a 3.

The kitchen consultant also said that this is because we are taking all appliances from one manufacturer (Siemens Studioline). Is that true ?!?

For us, all the electrical appliances were also cheaper than in retail.

By the way, I know the golden rule when buying a kitchen (common appliances): half the budget for furniture, half for appliances. Otherwise, there is a valuable imbalance ;)

Basically, I can confirm that. I myself worked in an electronics store. I was active in the IT sector. On a €3,000 laptop, there were sometimes only €80 margin.
With washing machines and co., especially with the less popular manufacturers (Gorenje and co.), the margin was quickly 100%.
That’s why the market manager was always very interested in selling the advertised products and not Miele or similar. Miele brought much more revenue but significantly less profit, despite sometimes triple the retail price.

You had 3 million EUR worth of laptops? Which you had to buy for 80 EUR less? That’s a killer for the cash flow.
It helps that you got the washing machines for free...

So my experience as a customer at kitchen studios was rather the other way around. On electrical appliances a maximum of 20% but on the RRP/list price and on the furniture a fantastic 60% discount.
Maybe the devices I chose just weren’t premium enough.

Typo, just imagine the “K” is gone. Three thousand € for an Asus Raumordnungsgesetz laptop and only an 80 € margin.
That’s how it looks in the IT market. Smartphones are the same. The price war is brutal. I’ve heard phrases like: but Amazon charges 10 € less. Will they match that?
And that’s with devices around 600 €+
But first, make sure to take advantage of the advice. Touch everything, try everything, etc.
