The margin is simply pushed to where it is harder to compare. After all, they don’t sell the appliances without the kitchen…

The white goods sold by kitchen dealers are handled differently than in specialist kitchen stores and furniture stores with kitchen departments. Between the top-of-the-line Siemens oven and the entry-level model, there is not a hundred in production costs, but easily 2,000 in MSRP. Dealers want to keep prices outside promotional items "stable." It is different in kitchen studios, where large packages are bundled. How the discount is then shown doesn't really matter.
In our kitchen, a calculated MSRP "moon price" resulted. The offer price showed no discounts, but rather a negotiated final sum. If the salesperson had only used a markup calculation of 100%, he would have taken a big loss. But I am sure the salesperson also made his cut. He was a real professional and we had fun.

I can easily believe the fun, but you only recognize the professional when the kitchen is installed on time and without errors - although there are already shockingly untalented employees who do not even know the most basic elements of a good customer relationship.

The seller was not the person who coordinated or carried out the installation. He was a professional salesperson in the positive sense. It is part of my job to recognize that – and since I very rarely come across truly good salespeople, I really appreciate it. A truly good salesperson achieves more than "just" high sales, contribution margins, or commissions.

I see it the same way, yet the seller has to plan something that can actually be built, even if he does not coordinate it himself. However, this may only become apparent long after the signature.
