Right, anyone can do that; just as anyone can also “philosophize.” If we all had “periods” immediately, the forum could be closed. Generating ideas, repositioning oneself, reading criticism... such brainstorming is often the basis for a better decision. There is no “period,” meaning an end. Often I think, one should have listened more often to the philosopher than to all the percentage calculators... unfortunately, the artist, musician, and philosopher are often rather smiled at...

Reducing hours is no longer possible for either of us. We work 70%, meaning 28 hours, and 80%, meaning 32 hours. Of course, as is probably the case (almost) everywhere, with some buffer for overtime (trust-based working hours). Fortunately, I can do the overtime whenever I want. So also in the evening on the couch when the children are asleep. We can then take time off at other times. That gives us even more flexibility, so I gladly do the overtime. These are already significant concessions from our employers. Otherwise, I would actually reduce hours first. Since that would probably bring the most quality of life. But I also realize that the position can then really no longer be filled.

Then I would reduce the term paper.

It’s interesting that the individual assessment of “good” consumption is simply transferred to others. Boats, vans, or campers don’t appeal to me at all. I don’t have to have that, even if others do, and I also grant them that it gives/brings them something.
Everyone apparently has different preferences and may well live them out. One could also just as well say that since Corona more has been invested in houses, gardens, and their equipment. After all, through home office, I spend most of my time there anyway.

I also see the good in our house. That’s why I am reluctant to tear out and replace what is quite good and new. If I sell it, it remains preserved, and someone else can enjoy having a young used house without construction stress.

By the way, aircraft carrier is a term from the corresponding forum.

Oh yes, gladly. We have a cleaning lady who is truly worth her weight in gold. She would gladly come a second time a week to do additional tasks. Currently, however, she has no free capacity.
A gardener is also planned for a few times a year. That will probably be done by the company that is currently also doing the planting.
And when the outdoor facilities here are finished, the window cleaner will come.

Then a cook (m/f/d) or/and someone for the shopping is probably still missing ... :) Ironing is also gladly outsourced.
