I see it the same way. I know enough retirees who were totally fresh and full of life before retirement. Then they retired and really declined because they missed their work. I wouldn't think about early retirement either.

I know retirees who have built a new purpose in life in early retirement and are happier/more satisfied because of it.

You don't have to address me directly. As a member of a discussion forum, I reserve the right to include my perspective :-)
I also did not write 20 years earlier but in 20 years.
But apart from that, I also think that for two or three years earlier retirement, one should not save half of their working life – so if, then seriously.

They have reduced hours, which is just as vague as "part-time." This could certainly be expanded or used in the form of longer breaks (provided the company allows it).

Of course, it always depends on the job. I can imagine that a bricklayer/tiler would prefer to retire early rather than a managing director or controller  Of course, there are both sides.

The correct thing would be to retire significantly earlier. So not to reduce from, for example, 65 to 63, but to 55. Although that doesn't necessarily mean not working at all, but perhaps no longer as a department head like now, but in one's own bookstore (any example) without the pressure to generate excessive profits (or even have to).
