So when it comes to the roller shutters and the window color, I'm on your side in terms of saving costs, but rimless toilets are really hardly more expensive than "normal" ones, and Nolte and Nobilia are basically on par. If it fails over something like that, you have fundamentally miscalculated.

These were just examples. I want to say, similar to zaba, something is always going to be different, more expensive, or unavoidable, and then you have to provide additional funding or limit yourself somewhere. That’s how construction works. Both private and public. In public projects, costs regularly get out of control because instead of limiting themselves, the motto is always, well, since we're already at it, and that wasn’t initially foreseeable, but now in light of the new findings....Karsten

What I always try to make clear: a basement always costs money, whether you build it or "leave it out". The basement costs are hardly included in the space and only relatively in the equipment, but mainly depend on the elevation of the building ground. A hillside house at slab-on-grade price does not exist, no matter how many dreamers want to believe that.

We have long since said goodbye to the basement - with almost all providers, at least €50,000 plus excavation, disposal, and a certificate of harmlessness are involved. The landfills in our region are full. Two developers even advise against having a basement due to the incalculable costs.

Therefore, we are planning without one, even though of course we would have liked to have had one.

"Incalculable" is again an exaggerated statement. You can actually estimate the costs quite accurately if you have a soil survey done beforehand. That way, you already know whether special foundation conditions might drive up the costs, and you can obtain quotes for the removal. The execution itself (foundation, walls, insulation, backfilling, etc.) must be offered by the developer with a high degree of accuracy. I also like "The landfills are full." Does that mean that no more houses can ever be built in your area?

Without a soil survey, the calculation is impossible, of course. But even then, my excavation contractor did not want to commit to an excavation volume for the basement. I maintain that the exact costs are only known when the excavation contractor's invoice arrives. Not a minute earlier. Then you suddenly excavate 50cm more on 13x11m and immediately miss out on 2k€ of your budget. You can imagine how much I hoped it wouldn't be 300 or 400 cubic meters. In the end, it was only 240 cubic meters. But you just don't know in advance. You can still calculate a lot based on the height specifications.
