Well. Redesigning Huf into a cube house is rather not something the layman can manage even before breakfast.

No, this Huf house and Bauhaus are fundamentally different. But the size, the gallery and the air space, have what is missing in the floor plan and is probably desired. Spacious, representative, yet living space. You can easily imagine the half-timbered structure away without much imagination and the other rooms do not fit. When you enter this living space, you know what you meant with your post. I cannot think of a Bauhaus model house of this size with a gallery and air space.

Most model houses are under 200 sqm with a stripped ceiling.

That's true. However, there is nothing "Bauhaus" in this thread. There is no focus on functionality, a core component of the Bauhaus style. Bauhaus design and architecture are always rethought from the goal. Here, it is exactly the opposite: architectural aspects are packed into a house while livability, overall aesthetics, and functionality are pushed into the background.
A few right-angled large-area exterior walls and a flat roof do not make a Bauhaus!
Have a look at Haus Lange and Haus Esters in Krefeld. These are single-family homes in the Bauhaus style.

You don’t have to convince me anymore I will start again from scratch, probably leaving out double-height spaces in the living area (I obviously still lack experience there), rather thinking about storage space, functionality, and everyday practicality alongside large rooms. Maybe then the parents’ area will still be on the upper floor (there is a lot of new space there!). Maybe from that direction I will come up with a better solution.

Either it will be crap too, then I’ll probably have to go to an architect, or it will be a solid basis and with your help maybe I can add a bit of creativity

Maybe this question should be brought to the forefront again exactly for that.

Thanks!

Really visit model homes and get catalogs from house manufacturers. You don’t have to build with them. Look around and talk to the sales consultants. Some have quite good suggestions, others not at all.

Just make a completely subjective amateur outline about the way you want to live, what you like to do, pictures, what appeals to you, how it could be in 10, 20, 40 years, what might still be the same then, what could change. Have fun doing it. Then you have a bundle of information and know that it all somehow doesn’t fit together. No problem, because now priorities will be set. And then you have a communicable idea of your life and look for the matching housing. Now you walk very focused through model homes and talk to providers. Anyone who doesn’t listen and understand is out of the selection. No compromises in forming your will. If something is too expensive, you can see how to get closest to the idea behind it.

That was our approach model. What came out exceeded all our expectations.
