Carport or garage, which makes more sense?

And not to forget, the price also plays a significant role in the decision.

We will decide after the house is built what will be constructed. It will probably be postponed, as some things are more important in our eyes.

I have already replied...
We have both: a 3-meter wide prefabricated garage and a carport about 3 meters wide.
There is still a Harley and wheels in the garage...
I find our carport more practical for everyday use, "daily car movement": because the carport is on an area of 4 meters, I have complete freedom with the door, loading and unloading, etc. (including bulky items)...
It (carport/car) can be well ventilated, and you don’t have to scrape it either.
The garage is only more practical if you are required to lock up your company car... or if the valuable car should not be seen.

If it's "just" about scraping windows, a parking heater is an inexpensive option and it also works on the go. Of course, you usually change vehicles more often than you change carports or garages, so you have to multiply the parking heater purchases by a number of vehicles – depending on the frequency of change. E-cars usually already have this anyway – if you think ahead. I don't want to miss a parking heater and parking ventilation in my everyday vehicle anymore.

Car insurance companies ask if the car is parked in a garage. Just as a thought.

In which direction should thinking or the need in this regard change? In that case, one would have to base the insurance evaluation on the respective vehicle model, type of drive, etc. A necessary insurance should secure the preferences I selected earlier and not the other way around.

Are you implying that the insurance premium is about 3.50 euros cheaper? :)
