Carport or garage, which makes more sense?

I'll put it this way. A garage can also be used as a carport, but the other way around doesn't work.;)

I'll put it this way, today's used cars don't need weather protection anymore, they hold up.
Advantage of a garage: enclosed storage space
Often garages are so much more expensive than the cars and things stored inside them that the question of cost-effectiveness arises for me.
We built a tall carport because the RV (rather valuable), convertible, and tractor (both not very valuable but to be treated with respect) are somewhat weather-sensitive. The metal-roofed cars stay outside.

We are still looking. We are currently considering a double carport with storage space. However, our wishes/preferences change almost daily :-)
