If you are a skilled worker, the job market may be very employee-friendly. But this time even for me the job search has been very difficult. Either modest earnings or impossible distance. I now have two jobs in prospect. Both relatively the same distance. Job 1 with the same salary as currently, Job 2 with a low base salary plus commission payments, which are never the same every month. So it's not necessarily that easy.

That one can be let go so quickly is also new to me. I am sorry, and I hope that you will improve and become more satisfied. Not necessarily: I as a "skilled worker" am very special: for example, if I can no longer work due to illness, I would have to work somewhere at the checkout or the shelves because there are no positions.

Illness is relative. But depending on the illness, being at the cash register or shelf is nothing. Also, I don't like it when these jobs are portrayed as so easy. This is my daily bread (except for the cash register) and it is, indeed, a hard job. Try carrying boxes with up to 25kg of goods for an entire shift. By the end, you'll be physically exhausted.

The more specialized your expert knowledge is, the harder it is to find a job near your place of residence. Because the only employer for your qualification is often the one at the place of residence. That is a problem. Either you are a nomad or you can quickly reorient yourself.

The labor market is also changing right now. We will soon no longer have a shortage of skilled workers. Work is running out due to immense cost increases and uncertainty among the population.

A heating engineer near me has dropped from 7 to only 4 fitters. Next year there will be an economic crisis in Germany. Many will be surprised by that. Especially because the state coffers are also empty.

No matter, every end is a new beginning. Good luck for your new job and then next year you’ll start fresh again.
