*I* think that cause and effect are at work here! In your #1 there is nothing about owed working plans; it merely talks about "more detailed plans"; according to your contracting party's understanding, you have received these. There are quite a few providers who do not issue any working plans to their customers at all (which I can partly understand, as I read many discussions here) and yet they hand over technically flawless buildings. Rhineland greetings

, I am convinced that you are knowledgeable about these matters like hardly anyone else here in the forum. However, you do not know my contract. It states, among other things, that construction will begin 4 weeks after receipt of the building permit and the completion of the detailed planning (construction planning). Detailed planning and construction planning are therefore explicitly mentioned.

I agree with you. That is correct! No company can work _without_ work plans; otherwise, there would be serious chaos on the construction site. The interesting question is: are you also owed the provision of the plans? So far, I have not read anything about that in your posts. Rhineland regards

Does it also say that these are handed over to you in the form of a plan?

Hello,

As I understand the OP, the construction company is currently trying exactly that: to work _without_ construction plans.

See also: "said the site manager on the phone, detailed plans will only be created for the roof structure."

But aside from that: why do many general contractors not want to hand out construction plans? How is an owner supposed to approve construction plans and thus also assume responsibility for what is planned if they don’t receive any construction plans? That completely exposes the construction company. If I don’t get construction plans that I explicitly have to approve, as the owner I can always say, "But the door still needs to be moved 10 cm to the left, start rebuilding!" And then the construction company first has to prove that this was exactly what was ordered. Unclear contracts can also backfire.

I know that in the construction industry (which is more than full of odd rituals, customs, and business practices) it apparently is not uncommon that a general contractor does not hand out the plans, but what’s the point of the stress? This only makes life harder for oneself, doesn’t it?

I don’t think I will ever understand the mindset in the construction industry.

Best regards,

Andreas
