So maybe the thread title can be changed, because we are now entering the final phase of planning.
Attached are the architect’s drafts for the work planning. This means the exterior dimensions are fixed, but some things inside could still be changed.
We are quite satisfied with the ground floor so far.
- The kitchen already consists of the 3.4m long row and the island. If it is replaced in 15 years, one can still consider expanding the pantry.
- The door to the pantry should be changed to a sliding door.
- The passage to the living room definitely needs to be enlarged to at least 1.1m.
- I am still waiting for feedback from the architect on whether the wall from the utility room can be extended a bit under the stairs to create some space for the washing machine and dryer.
The main problem is the upper floor:
In our initial floor plan, the stairs were a bit more towards the entrance. This is not possible because of the utility room.
- Main problem in the bedroom: A bed cannot be placed like this because then the door wouldn’t open. Moving the door to the hallway also doesn’t seem possible because it “looks catastrophic” to build over the first step of the stairs (which was the case in the initial floor plan).
- The children’s rooms have quite little space for furniture. We went through it yesterday and would find a solution for both rooms. At the moment, we are basically done with family planning, so the second room would rather be used as a playroom where Lego can be left lying around...
- I really like the bathroom, but it is huge.
- The office would be sufficient for our needs; it is not used for working but more to handle paperwork without having it visible to everyone.
That’s all from my side for now. Now it’s your turn.
