For a narrow house, a different staircase design naturally makes sense, one that doesn't extend so far into the depth but is stretched in the middle. A bay window, yes it is allowed, should be planned where space is needed. I would also consider 3.5 x 3.5 too small for the living room corner, but the bay window seen here compensates for this size.

I would use the bay window for the living room - symmetry or not, or choose a different approach. Also be aware that 12 m is not enough to create a quiet zone. If the dishwasher is running, you not only see it but also hear it. 5 sqm for the utility room must be very well planned.... at least if you also want to do laundry there. The architect's design is better than yours.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention. The 3.4m for the kitchen unit with the island is fixed. We already have the kitchen and will be taking it with us.

In our current apartment, we have a kitchen/dining/living area that is 3.4x11m. However, the entrance is directly in the kitchen. We are already used to the fact that you have to plan a bit, especially regarding the dishwasher, and not run it exactly when you want to watch a quiet movie.

In principle, you would probably still tend to choose the side entrance despite the limitations.

My problem with the planning is that we would actually like to have the entrance on the short side; if I subtract the kitchen + stairs from the remaining 7.2m inside, there is about 2m left for the hallway + room... (I hope you can follow my train of thought)

I would just rather not put the utility room on the sunny side so that I can arrange the living/dining area in an L shape...

Attention! This is about the LANDESbauordnung. So it does not necessarily apply to NRW.

I know, but one could have looked into it. I thought that was generally not possible. Now it's too late anyway, but we are still happy.

Hello again,

I found a floor plan online that I found quite appealing.

Unfortunately, it also has the entrance on the long side, but it has a straight staircase, one more room, and a spacious hallway.

Please tell me what bothers you about it and if you might have any ideas on how to place the entrance on the short side after all.

Regards
