However, it makes sense to draw in furniture roughly with the measurements and positions that one can actually imagine. Only then do weak points, etc., become clear.

So much has already been written.. just write something that you spontaneously don't like: Dressing room. 1.5 meters wide - dead space. Either access through the dressing room, or a normal wardrobe.

One tiny bit, you could still rotate all the walls on the upper floor as well as the bay window counterclockwise, then there would be even more space in the dressing room. You could possibly also move the staircase a bit to the left or make it narrower and longer instead. That would also create more space in the bedroom (possibly a second wardrobe wall on the left) and reduce the area of the hallway. But that would create new problems and actually I think the plan is great. Only the angled bay window doesn't appeal to me (especially since it faces towards the garage).

Yes, I agree with you. That was also my top priority. Being able to keep an eye on the kids from the kitchen. In hindsight, it wouldn’t have mattered for us since we have a garden both in the front and the back, and you could simply have placed the sandbox and so on near the kitchen. But I also find it more important to keep an eye on the kids than the mail carrier.
