Yeah, really cool. At least with the centrally located terrace you get something out of it and the plot isn’t misused.
Why impractical? The path towards the sleeping area is the same path you would usually use via stairs.
I had also looked at it once and considered using one wing suspended over the terrain as a shelter for the cars. In the end, we didn’t like that every room is always oriented towards the terrace.
The original floor plan has something about it like a patty. The walls on the exterior are very long, thus somewhat uncomfortable, since on two sides hardly any plot is left.
According to the development plan, we have to green walls over 10 sqm anyway; I think such hefty walls can also develop charm.
Be careful with the terrace: direction (parents-in-law) is probably not very well thought out if you want some peace and quiet.
There is also a simple solution here: greenery. The development plan also requires that 60% of the undeveloped area must be planted with trees and shrubs. In the end, there should be an orchard with lawn areas all around the house, in front and behind it. Sure, it takes time until everything grows, but it will be quite a green affair.
I know it like this too: no corridors, the rooms flow into each other. But it’s not for everyone. I know it more as rooms being used as corridors: with sliding doors you then have the choice for privacy. Even well done, something like this would more likely fail with the general public here.
It wouldn’t be mine either or at least I can’t imagine it being practical.
