From my point of view also a wise decision, since with a part-time job she typically has to work about as much in a shorter time as the full-time employees anyway. Especially since your wife is qualified and motivated.

Could the gentlemen please comment on this? Why did you have children if you want to work full-time?

I have a pet. I engage with it. With a child, parents want to do more than just engage, I really hope so for the child's sake.

I share the intention of your request. I deliberately wrote "parents" instead of "mothers" to address both genders.

We have a four-year-old child and both work full-time. Honestly, I don't see any reason to have to explain myself in any way. Especially since you apparently know why people do that, because all people are the same. But I also have a question, do you run around at the office asking why people have children even though they might not be able to afford them? Sometimes I really find it presumptuous how you write here...

I believe that is not easy to answer. Topics like life plan, enjoyment of consumption, living standard - or quality, sense of responsibility, self-worth, being overwhelmed, being underchallenged, etc. get mixed up there. Two years ago I would have said that if I were offered double the salary for the same working hours or the same salary for half the working hours, I would definitely reduce my working hours. Today I would definitely double my salary. Guess what has changed in my family. The answer might seem paradoxical, but I have started a family...
