Hello,
I would need your help and opinions.
We are building a bungalow with 115 sqm of living space.
It will be an L-shaped bungalow.
Our plan was to completely cover the terrace with the hipped roof of the bungalow.
This would create a terrace measuring 5.00 by 4.60.
The orientation would be southwest.
The living-dining room with almost 35 sqm faces the terrace.
The room has one window or exit to the terrace measuring 1.80 by 2.13 and another exit of about 0.80 by 2.13 m.
Additionally, to the west, there are two windows each measuring 1.00 by 1.26.
The architect has now suggested in the preliminary planning to design the roof as a hip gable roof for aesthetic reasons.
Then, the terrace would only be covered to 2.75 by 4.60.
To me, that is almost too small or I found our first idea more practical in terms of usability for parties, etc.
My partner suddenly has fears that with our first option too little light will come into the room.
Is that really the case? I would need your help with that.
All acquaintances so far have said, take the large terrace.
It’s difficult, it’s supposed to be for life.
Regards, Daniel
