this fence story shows once again how simply my Lang is structured.

New development area
The plots are parceled by the land developer, the street and connections are created before the sale of the plots. There are usually no sidewalks, a 2m strip belongs to the municipality, no tall bushes are allowed.

My plot has a fence on 3 sides, 1.8m high, colourbond, the color is assigned by the developer, currently they are dark anthracite and can look like this.

The costs are always split half and half. This year we asked one of our neighbors if he was interested in a new fence (like in the picture). No problem. He benefits more than we do because most of my fence is hidden by bushes. He sees his fence because of the pool.

this fence is behind the bushes on the left rear side. Although I initially found the enclosure terrible like a cage coming from Germany, today I am very glad that it exists. This way I cannot see what my neighbor is doing in the garden, whether it is neglected or not, and there is no fence issue, privacy is important to me. The houses all face the street. Easy.

On the right behind the bushes is the terrace and house.

... on quite large plots like yours, where the fence is practically hidden, you might be able to do it that way ... but on 250 to 500 sqm plots, it already looks very much like cage keeping.

Our neighbor now also has one of those double rod panel fences. A large part of it has black privacy strips and another part has black and gray privacy strips. It looks really dumb. Actually, we probably should have enclosed the area. But there was still an old fence standing that was still usable and looked nicer. However, she didn’t want it anymore and paid for everything herself. Otherwise, we could have had a say. And because she doesn’t want birds etc. in the garden, she tied plastic spikes to the fence. In the bushes with bird berries, there are also those blinking things hanging, which glare at us on the terrace depending on the position of the sun and are some kind of tinkling stuff to scare them away. I’ll put it this way: the birds don’t care and happily sit on the plastic spikes. The cats don’t care either. I greatly enjoy watching the animals and I keep feeding them.

and then your neighbor signs for bees and flowers. fences like these are not found in our area. Are they purely privacy fences or also sound barriers?

But it really looks good.

Ultimately, the fence is a matter of taste. One person is totally into a solid stone wall, another likes the plastic fence, and yet another swears by hedges.

Since the OP wants complete privacy (completely without judgment), WPC/similar fences would be an option. They are certainly anything but cheap, but can still look quite nice.

To answer the question conclusively: It doesn’t get any cheaper than a double rod mesh with plastic strips, nor does it get uglier and more tasteless.
