So far, we haven’t really dared to go for parquet. Mainly because of fear of maintenance (children in the house), and because you often see shocking photos online showing what parquet can look like when something spills or other disasters happen.
I recommend a rustic decor, so with apparent imperfections. With "Select," meaning very uniform, dents are much easier to notice. Oiled is also better than lacquered. If a color oil was used for the floor, imagine a small bottle next to it, then you can relatively easily "iron out" larger marks that might bother you with wood filler, sawdust, oil, and color oil. And if, due to water damage, a plank should really warp, it’s better if the floor was laid floating, then you can easily replace the plank.
Maintenance for oiled floors means, as already mentioned, re-oiling the walkways once a year, and when a room is renovated again, meaning painted white, and the furniture is completely emptied for it, you can quickly re-oil the whole floor with a mop.
