I wouldn't compete there. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Floating feels nicer underfoot, softer. I have floating parquet, a friend has glued. You can tell the difference when walking. And you can do it more easily yourself.

I had more the feeling that most of them tried to make me not choose vinyl because it only consists of plastic.

We are looking first and foremost for a floor whose properties fit us. What material it is made of is initially secondary to us.

Yes, gluing is a tricky thing, we definitely have to lay the floor ourselves whether floating or glued.

I don’t trust myself with gluing and if something goes wrong it is more difficult to fix later because everything is glued down.

Self-adhesive vinyl is probably not that great either (probably doesn’t stick that well).

Thanks for your experience, we also tend to lay it floating.

Which type of vinyl would you recommend? There is normal click vinyl where you have to put the impact sound insulation underneath and rigid vinyl where it is already integrated.

Which is better?

The first question must be: Is my subfloor suitable? Depending on the choice of flooring, the screed may not be sufficient. Just google "Vinyl subfloor requirements" there is a lot of information, also regarding any necessary measures for floor leveling when installing it yourself.

The problem with floating installation is that you have an air layer in between. With radiators, that doesn't matter and might even be desirable, but with underfloor heating, not so much. The expansion of the material is also a bigger problem with floating installation because everything can shift. A large south-facing window front is rather bad in that case.

On the upper floor and attic, we have no large windows facing south. On the upper floor, only 2 normal windows face south-west, and in the attic, only the skylight faces north-east and 2 floor-to-ceiling windows face north. We do not have the problem of excessive heat due to sunlight.
