According to the instructions, the vapor barrier foil should be glued to the wall to ensure it is sealed there as well.

Ah ok. Hmm then the moisture would remain in the screed forever. It won't dissolve because of that, but I still wouldn't feel good about it. But why don't we just ask the flooring expert . Maybe he'll take another look after all...

Parquet can be either "floating" [loosely on insulation underlay(s)] or fully glued to the screed. Laminate floor elements are exclusively intended for floating installation - and are also advertised by the manufacturers as such in their installation instructions. A PE film as a vapor barrier is only recommended for floating installation! Its task is to keep the residual moisture contained in every screed mortar "in case of emergency" (further details would certainly exceed the space given here and the ongoing interest as well as the absorption capacity of the readership) away from the moisture-sensitive floor coverings. The so-called "impact sound insulation underlays" are also used only and exclusively with floating floor elements. How else should that work with a full-surface bonding?? (rhetorical question!) That a used PE film could negatively affect the construction in floating installation in any way is to be classified as a fairy tale. -------------- Greetings to all: KlaRa

Would actually be interesting to know, do you think my capacity to absorb information as an electrical engineer (FH) is sufficient for that? :)

Well. I now know that a vapor barrier does no harm. However, I still don't know if I need it because I don't know the "fall of cases." So what exactly is the "fall of cases"?

It is quite an effort to lay out the foil, glue it, etc. If I can save myself that because the "fall of cases" cannot occur in my situation or is very unlikely, then of course I would like to do that.
