Yes, as I get older, I also look to buy something more durable. Maybe because it can also cost a bit more. If my washing machine broke down 10 years ago, I had to quickly find the cheapest possible replacement – if the machine (Miele) broke down today, I would either see if it can be repaired or look for one that might be durable. It can then also cost a few hundred more. And to be honest, I am too lazy to drag the machine out of the room/house every few years and look for a new one, buy it, wait for delivery, or carry it myself, connect it... No, I am too comfortable for that! Although the current machine is from Miele and is already a few years old – I will just go find a piece of wood ^^
My mother-in-law’s Miele washing machine is already over 20 years old, just like the dryer from the same brand. Sure, new machines would be more efficient – but first you have to invest a few hundred so that it pays off in many years, and dispose of functioning machines? And the new ones also have to be manufactured first. So that would be nonsensical.
Only her old chest freezer I don’t want to have. She thinks it would be great for us – but on the one hand, we have a freezer, on the other hand, the chest is certainly over 25 years old and lastly, it’s a huge thing. I don’t want to haul that anywhere.
