The economic argument unfortunately often only applies in the ideal case. A refrigerator that only starts to pay off after 10 years is no incentive for me. Ecology gladly. I agree with that. Bet it is ecological to use the old one until the end. More ecological than buying new? Because buying new may save electricity, water, who knows what, but it has to be newly produced, which consumes electricity, water, etc., and the old one has to be disposed of, which is also not free. Therefore, my friend drives a 520 i BMW, already half a million km, that is ecological! Karsten

In my environment (yes, they are the "old ones") this brand keeps breaking down and repairs are ridiculously expensive. I think they only live off their reputation and the older generation. I don't see any innovation (for the young ones ;)) either.

With the experience, I would then also buy Siemens for half [emoji3] But our old one still holds up

Funny, my East German father-in-law always says we are a throwaway society in the West. He sticks every piece of trash together, freezes the stuff, and forgets about it for years. Recently I disposed of ice (freezer burn). It somehow tasted weird. Well, it pleases us, someday there will be a pile of money to inherit. We have changed our consumption, you only live once.

HelpHelp, I can’t assess your father-in-law, sounds to me like OverIControl. For me, it’s simply that these Mediamarkt flyers don’t trigger any surge of desire. They almost go unnoticed into the blue bin. That’s all. We’ll deal with the issue of new only when the old is broken.

You do as well. Also sell a lot through classifieds or Mami Kreisel. But it doesn't always have to be cheap. For example, he was too stingy to buy running pants and ordered them from China (eBay). The item arrived, but since it was slightly too tight, there was stress over €12.90 instead of just buying some, for example, at Aldi; they also have some for €20, and if it should be stylish, then Nike for €45.
