You have to give a concrete amount. Because in the past, a 1% repayment with a rate of under €1000 was mentioned. I would say off the top of my head: €1700 rate + €500 additional costs. Minus €880 warm rent and €70 garage, that leaves €1250 per month that currently always (!) have to remain. As I said, even with regard to the expenses list a few posts earlier, this is within the realm of the possible.

No, that is wrong. Incidental purchase costs for the land: just under 14K Incidental purchase costs for the condo: still open since no specific property yet, but the ones we've looked at - both 20-22K. Whereas with a condo we have no time pressure and can save a bit more targeted for that. Of course, so that buying a condo even makes sense compared to the house, we have defined a price range of up to 300,000€. At the moment, there are two such apartments near Berlin (one of them new building with terrace) that cost 250K + 20K incidental purchase costs. I think with that amount we would have a relatively moderate monthly payment (compared to building a house) and no rent costs.

Should your child definitely go to daycare or definitely to a Berlin daycare?

An expense item that should not be neglected is the daycare fees. They are sometimes not insignificant. You, as Brandenburg residents, will then also pay them for a Berlin daycare. (If you get a spot)

Yes, we are aware of the daycare fees. The child should go to the Berliner daycare; we will probably get the spot easily, as we already inquired very early in advance.

Sure, just by moving from Berlin to Brandenburg you lose the entitlement to free daycare!! And then it gets more complicated. You have to submit applications with proper justifications, etc.

But if I have read between the lines correctly, then you have a bilingual daycare, and then the applications for cost coverage, etc. become quite easier and more realistic.

Addendum: Do you even want to move to Brandenburg?

If there are such affordable apartments with you, that would really be a good alternative!

I see it similarly. Maybe a bit high in tendency. I would take €1000 as the rate and try to pay an additional €300 from self-employment as a special repayment.

But overall, I now see you more in a condominium.
No one is saying to use toilet paper twice and not everyone has to do the exact same thing. But with over €1000 for a stroller, financed camera... with that income, you simply can’t buy a house in Berlin. How far they want to restrict themselves for that can only be answered by the two of them. But for a house with 160 sqm as originally desired, significant restrictions will simply be necessary, that should have become clear by now.

@ Mohouse: You probably earn more than €4700 BEFORE the child and you have limited yourselves in size and luxury for your house wishes, right? For example, items like a fireplace were also discussed at length with us, whether we could afford it. Fireplace or 3 nice vacations?
