... sounds to my ears like a good plan. The tire change is done twice a year, the shed can also be in the garden with the wheelbarrow, the carport is delicate and much more decorative.

Dear , I see that you have a floor-to-ceiling window in the kitchen. How far along are you with the kitchen planning? Should it be an L-shape with a dining corner, or do you have something else in mind? Best regards :)

I hope I’m allowed to reply in this thread even though it’s not a kitchen thread.

Our kitchen will be very simple and untrendy, like everything else in the house. We will put our country-style kitchen furniture, which we bought at Ikea about a year ago, on the side with the water connections, etc. We will extend it by about two half-height dressers or similar with glass panes, which are supposed to stand on the opposite side. Not too many, as the “normal” window in the kitchen should also be accessible. I don’t like it very much when something stands in front of or directly next to windows for us. So the (glass-pane?) dressers will stand left and/or right of the window facing the street. I don’t yet know how many dressers we will need.

Otherwise, large plants and pictures should go into the kitchen, depending on space available.

In the kitchen, we will then place a 2-person table (which will be extendable) and two, maybe four, of our real wood chairs that we reupholstered ourselves with red velvet. For now, we will use furniture from our existing stock; we will buy more gradually later.

I also very much wanted to put my husband’s (see photos) self-built beer fridge in the kitchen because I simply find it great. My husband would have rather put it in the technical/laundry room, but now it’s going in the kitchen too. :)
(My husband did not buy the kicker statistics table himself; he doesn’t read football magazines. I once brought it to him from shopping when he was sick.)

Let's see if I can convince him. I still hope, against better knowledge, ;-) that we won't need a storage room and the need literally disappears into thin air. :)

As usual, you're right. :) However, we are thinking about buying a HASE bike because my husband would use a cargo bike for small shopping trips and it would also be an e-bike tandem at the same time. Although this is off-topic now, these things are really, really fun except for the price. We did a test ride once and couldn't stop laughing (and admittedly also cursing ;-) ). If one wants to stop and the other wants to accelerate, it is incredibly funny. :)

But we first have to wait and see how our financial situation looks after the house construction. HASE bikes cost 3 times as much as my last car, which I bought used, and that was at least a SMART.

My husband likes it this way and I still prefer it to a garage directly at the house. Besides, I still hope that my husband will forgo the storage room and we will only have a carport in front that looks like a Victorian pavilion.

... overall the corridor is not optimal (can you even get through with a bike, pushing it, without dismantling the handlebar?). Therefore I would rather design the storage room at the garage as an open bike port, I would then cover the corridor with translucent roofing and add a decent gate or similar facing the street.

The entrance to the storage room would be at the front, facing the street, so you don't have to go through it with the bike.

I don't like a garage directly attached to the house. I believe that almost every garage impairs the beauty of a house. But we are considering the other idea with the second parking space (which we don't need anyway) in front of the guest WC window. Good idea.

We have not yet dealt with the outdoor area. So far, I thought of a "freisitz" (open sitting area) that goes from the technology/HWT into the carport area. If I want to plant something there, shade-tolerant plants would be an option. Or I plant a shrub that closes the passage to the back. But as mentioned, we have not yet planned the garden and outdoor facilities.

I am grateful for any hints about everything. :)

... would be, in my opinion, the most obvious to design the breakfast or drying rack terrace in such a way that it could be declared as a parking space. So accessible from the driveway and at least 2.5 x 5m in size. Tracks leading there should suffice; I consider a continuous surface connection to the driveway unnecessary.

As long as there is still a car and not a horse-drawn carriage standing there?! With little parasols and Rococo skirts, you won’t get between the house and the pavilion at least ;)
