One was a mandate authorization and the other an information letter regarding the calculation of costs (Lawyer Remuneration Act)...

As I said, I asked for an initial consultation and was told I had to sign that beforehand.

It’s not really about him taking care of things now and me having to pay for it... I can see that we’re not making progress with the landlord... neither we nor the lawyer apparently... so the only option left is the court. If it goes to court, I consider my chances good and in any case, I wouldn’t have to bear the costs.

If I lose, according to the court cost calculator, it’s almost 700 euros I would have to pay... I won’t go under because of that. I just wanted to express my displeasure about the way things have been handled so far.

We're not a complaint box, tell the lawyer. You do know that besides the 700€ he will want to see his fee? That would be too stupid for me.

And why should that be too stupid for me?...the landlord wants 1,200 euros from me for a damage that is 2.5 years old and was never repaired. Of course, I could say "Amen" to everything and just give him the money...or I insist on my rights and take this route...

But okay, I won't report any further then...

No, you can do that. It’s an interesting topic. Personally, I just find it too stupid to have an unknown factor. In this specific case, the costs. In the worst case, you have to pay the landlord and lawyer. Even with a settlement, you still end up paying your costs.
