€20,000 annual benefit is roughly €175 for fuel. Those who commute a lot simply pay a lot for fuel. That's clear.
As for the investment: A brand new Polo costs €12,500. After 5 years it’s still worth €5,000 --> half the investment cost.
And if you don’t buy a new car every 5 years, but every 10 years, the number looks nicer too. €12,500 over 10 years versus €15,000 over 5 years. But even with €20,000 over 10 years it looks better already. Those who need a new car every five years pay extra. Luxury you can afford or not. That’s clear.
I didn’t take time to compare prices now.
And if someone wants, they can always find a loophole like "nobody pays the list price" or "leasing a diesel is cheaper if you take VW"!
By the way, these are not made-up numbers. They are mine. Not a Polo, but the small mid-range for a working woman who cannot take a company car home.
And if an employee has a daily commute of 20/30 km there and back, they depend on the car running and not becoming a sham or a surprise package.
Whether anyone recognizes themselves here or not: doesn’t matter. It’s the flat rate of €500!
We also don’t have to discuss every vehicle of everyone here. If the wife’s second car is only used once a week, an older Up is enough, no question.
