According to the KfW FAQs, material costs are subsidized for renovation work done in-house.
Quote from the KfW information sheet on eligible measures:
In this respect, you can carry out the work yourself, but you will not receive funding for it. This was changed some time ago. I still have an application from 2020, with which I can do EVERYTHING myself and still get material funding.
sporty?
I think sporty, because it’s not just these measures. KfW is relatively easy; with 55 it really gets tough. You will probably also need a controlled residential ventilation system and thick or high-quality insulation (= expensive).
By the way, KfW also funds the removal of floor coverings and screed as well as doing everything new, if you install underfloor heating. Etc.
A new roof with insulation can easily cost €40k or more. Heating with everything = €20k. Windows depending on size also €15-20k (don’t forget the front door – I hope the basement has internal access with a door. Open basement access to an unheated basement practically excludes KfW 55). Basement ceiling €1-2k. External insulation €20k. Decentralized controlled residential ventilation €5k.
Then you’re already at €107k. It can also be more expensive.
