There could be some truth to that :-( Overall, that all sounds much more like a reworked draft from previous clients rather than the architect "freshly" designing for this client.

If the 2nd room upstairs is meant, it is not intended as a guest room. Either our junior gets it as his own “living room” etc. Alternatively – if we have another child – it will be a 2nd children's room. Hence also the roughly same sizes. Our guests will probably have to take a place on a sofa bed downstairs in the study, which should be bearable for the few times.

Sorry the north is towards the street. The terrace is on the south.

Hello again

Thank you very much for the many comments!
I believe the house is not yet perfectly tailored to us, you hit the nail on the head with that. Please don’t take it the wrong way, we don’t think it’s fundamentally bad, but somehow also very "standard".

To clarify again our requirements for the house:
Ground floor: open living/dining area preferably with a kitchen island, adjoining pantry, a study which could possibly also be used as a bedroom later (just in case...). Guests will then also stay on a sofa bed/mattress etc. in the study. Shower bath, dressing niche, and a staircase which should not be in the living/dining area. (Personally, we like a half-landing staircase very much – if the floor plan requires a straight staircase that would also be okay. We just don’t want a spiral staircase.)
Upper floor: bathroom with walk-in shower + bathtub, bedroom with dressing room (as described, it would be nice if you enter the room and are not immediately in the dressing room) and additionally 2 nearly equal-sized rooms. Room 1 will definitely be for our son and Room 2 is possibly intended as a small living room or similar also for him. And if we have another child, the 2nd room will be used as a "normal" children’s room.
Possibly the use of the garage as a rooftop terrace for our son with friends. However, this is not a must...
Basement: music room, large hobby room, laundry room, storage room including technical equipment.

I hope this helps to better understand what is important to us.

Once again, thank you very much for the suggestions.

I really like the kitchen bay; it makes the area not feel so long. I assume the dressing niche is supposed to be behind the pantry, right? Here we asked ourselves whether it might be quite dark without direct daylight? Of course, you can install spotlights, etc. Does anyone have experience with this?

I also like the floor plan on the upper floor, although we would probably forgo the children’s bathroom (2 bathrooms are enough to clean ). The bay could possibly even be used as a small balcony, or is that too narrow? Thanks for all the ideas!

Ever talked to an architect? I mean, with the house size and a few wishes including the slope problem, you would have something custom designed...
