I know the arguments for central ventilation:
Noise... it’s louder when I open the window at home. Ours runs when we are not there.
It can cause drafts... yes, but also when the window is open.
Size... if it hangs under the ceiling, the size doesn’t matter either.
I wouldn’t know what would be unpleasant to look at in the rooms.
Now to the advantages:
Every day you save one hour of ventilation time in the house. Your shock ventilation consumes your own energy and additionally heating energy. And that’s what it’s about: saving heating energy by not having to let it out. No burglars, no animals that could get through the doors and windows.
