So we have definitely had the windows open much less frequently since the ventilation system. It's just rarely necessary. In summer, overnight, something at the bottom and top is always tilted for air flow. And otherwise only when
- the (kitchen) smells
- I want warm fresh spring air in spring (and that rather briefly and rarely, because the controlled residential ventilation has a pollen filter in spring, so the windows stay better closed, otherwise it would be useless).

Overall, I am very satisfied with it because I hardly ever ventilate when it's cold – my husband used to always complain when he came home from work and the air was so bad ;) He doesn’t need to do that anymore and even with two people working from home, the windows can stay closed.

Of course, if there is a party or guests staying longer, the windows have to be opened, otherwise the system can’t handle it. But that’s not what it is designed for.

It always depends on the ventilation system or design. Theoretically, you can glaze everything fixed and then install a large controlled residential ventilation system. However, in a "normal" single-family house, this does not make sense. Therefore, as others have already written, windows that can be opened still make sense. We only keep windows/doors open when we go outside. However, our system is designed differently.

I think there is a misunderstanding. We call gaming "gaming" and sex "sex". We enjoy doing both often, if that’s what you meant. ;)

Ew, of course as a long-time altar server I certainly did NOT mean anything like that. Not to mention my already advanced age; considering the different generations, people often misunderstand things ;), at least that’s what my kids in your generation say. Although it’s completely foreign to me that my PC could heat up the room, I still think it’s good that you said that so openly and described something. Whether I implement something myself is always my own business, but in general I do like ideas and feelings beyond my own imagination.

I only say a strong fart and you’re glad to be able to open windows. The controlled residential ventilation is not a life saver. :D Likewise, some sun and large glass windows instantly lead to 25 degrees and more in the house. Better to air out briefly than always keep the shading closed in autumn/winter/spring.

Thanks. Definitely good window/terrace door opening options, I'm just currently weighing whether to take a bit more "pure" glass area than I would without controlled residential ventilation. Do you have controlled residential ventilation? I used to have venetian blinds and a lot of open glass area in the house, which I liked. But every house is different, and houses are built differently nowadays, which is why I always like to take a close look at "new" things. At the moment, we probably have a moderately set underfloor heating and I can't change anything about it. So I keep throwing the windows wide open because I feel the air could be better. I never had that feeling in my old house. So I'm still struggling with quite a few things...... and I can still decide on something. My current question is more whether I'll manage well if on the two outer parts of the three 3m window sections there will each "only" be a 1m casement door to open plus one 1m window on both end sides of the open-plan room and whether I can execute the middle of the three 3m sections in front of the dining table entirely as fixed glass, as a multi-part casement door, or even as a folding door that can be fully opened. So whether the dining table stands in front of a huge, floor-to-ceiling glass wall (fixed glass) and 1m doors each left and right are set back in the kitchen and living area, or whether I design exactly this dining area in three parts and maybe can even completely "throw it open" with a folding window at this point to basically sit "outdoors." Ideally, one would have all options depending on the situation, that's the idea in the little man. Would be problems.....
