Hello everyone,
Our floor plan is currently with the architect. We would like to build a city villa with an attached garage. The garage will be masonry. Since the garage is directly adjacent to the house wall, it is inevitable that one room will have no window.
This should now be the utility room with heating, washing machine, dryer, and other technology.
However, I am a bit concerned about the heat and possibly moisture that these devices emit.
Would a 24-hour ventilation (like the ones in interior bathrooms) or a small window, which could only be opened towards the garage, help?
Maybe someone has a tip or a utility room without a window themselves and knows what to advise.
Thank you very much!
Hello Chloe83,
I can't give you any practical experience yet, but we are building the same and are about to start construction. We were told that this is not a problem at all.
Here you can see our planning for the building application:
We had two options, either a window shaft and ventilation above it or through our ventilation system. We deliberately decided against the shaft because otherwise we would have had light shafts on the terrace. Our builder said it is no problem via the ventilation system. We did the same in the basement.
Our planning is currently with the plumbing department for final planning and review. If anything comes back, I will let you know.
