WTF! What kind of old device do you have? Newer devices are only allowed to consume 0.5 watts – which according to Stiftung Warentest they more or less achieve.

You have to measure properly. I also have the high annual consumption like you, but daily (on vacation) between 1.5 and 2 kWh. And that still included power for an oil heating system (water heating/pump), garden pump and basement power for my tenant as well as my controlled living space ventilation. When present also 4-7 kWh – without heating or electric car.

The devices have the specified limits according to EU standards. However, they must also be switched to this mode. As soon as any background updates and the like are activated on the TV, the consumption is completely different, even though the device appears to be in standby mode. All without violating anything. 10 kWh per day, without presence, is (was) definitely a lot. When absent, think of the heating so that it does not produce hot water.

Hm... I would also have to check for myself what exactly consumes how much per day. When I look at my photovoltaic app, I usually have a consumption of 20-40kwh per day. It also always depends a bit on whether the car is charging. On the weekend we were not at home and on Saturday we had a consumption of 12.3kwh.

But the TV unfortunately drew 40W (65 inch oled) before I changed the settings…. And it is new. After changing the settings, it needs 18W. My espresso machine consumes 30W (!) in standby. It is a Sage Oracle Touch and less than a year old. Just those two devices together are quite a lot then?!

A completely different question. If everything is installed and the commissioning by the electricity provider is still pending, can I still use my own electricity in the house? I am primarily concerned about the heating program of the underfloor heating... (this is about a new building) It would certainly be good if the air-to-water heat pump runs directly with photovoltaic electricity (even if in November / December not a whole lot will probably come from the roof).

Further measurements ( are all older devices) : 45 W for the TV in the basement with XBox 0.5 W for the Samsung TV in the fitness room so it’s possible! … for that a Teac 18W and the second XBox 15W.

30W go through the power strip in office 1 and through the one in office 2 22W where the laptop is in standby and the screen. The printer 0.

when I add it all up, the consumption becomes clear to me.

can someone explain to me how this can be the case if this law exists? Apparently, the law has been around for a while, so new TVs and coffee machines should also be included?
