Well, assembly is a lump sum for me (for the extra charge items), certainly not excessively much, but 50-100€ each are added on top. However, I swallowed the frog with the built-in shower. I offered the plumber to provide it myself and give him 500€. The assembly would then be added on top. He didn't want that.

Ah, that's where the problem lies: You want rarely ordered stuff. Does that also apply analogously to the installation method?

What kind of extravagant fittings do you want to have? In principle, it sounds like it comes from the [BU iO], but do you really save if you choose individually? The only thing that is actually worth it is the bathtub: a nice 180 cm can cost 10 times as much as the planned 165 cm one. Possibly the shower as well. Everything else has to be provided on site anyway.

Really? Not in our case. We have everything including sanitary objects in the scope of work description – although not specified very concretely. We could have chosen from a few standard items. But we are also taking out the washbasins, fittings, toilets, and bathtub. Except for an built-in fitting for the bathtub, which the plumber provides. We discussed this with the general contractor because he said on his own that you can get these things cheaper online than his plumber’s purchase prices. And then we get what we want and he has no hassle with it. We get charged his calculated material prices for it. It still gets installed by the GC/plumber, but you shouldn’t base yourself on that, it’s really the exception that someone does it that way. In the last house we also had problems finding someone to install the washbasins.

So without trying to spark a discussion about extraordinary things, they are not standard items, but not exactly the most expensive either, just two bathrooms. When you start with Hansgrohe Rainfinity showerheads or a RainSelect thermostat, you quickly enter a realm where you want to treat yourself, and maybe can, if you do not pay double or triple for it.

In our case, the additional cost would be roughly €10,000, this is not an estimate, but simply comparing the RRP with internet prices. We cannot be more precise yet because we have left some options open with a few fixtures. There are not many industries where you can count on the RRP, but in our opinion, sanitary fittings definitely belong here. And that does not have to be the case if the house provider already offers it.

Theoretically, the amount does not matter either; for someone for whom €1,000 is a lot, €2,000 is just as painful as when someone can spend €10,000 and has to pay €20,000. It is their range, and paying double for something is usually just the decision of yes or no, quite simply... We would never have bought these fixtures for €20,000 but would have switched to others, not as nice if you imagined it differently but would have worked just the same. Now we are happy to have saved €10,000 and still get the desired fixtures.

When I saw how the specialist company installed the 100x120cm shower into the 103x123cm opening or did not measure before acceptance, my faith in companies was gone... you often do it quite precisely for yourself

Good luck to you all in the future!
