So the sanitary service was not included in the original offer from the general contractor but it was clear from the start that it would cost extra?

I believe what he means is that the sanitary service in the main contractor’s offer is conditional on purchasing the sanitary fixtures from that very contractor. Many argue about warranty claims in this context. And the main contractor’s plumber will probably charge three times as much for the parts as the online specialist retailer.

You will not save the huge amount you are currently calculating ;) A 60cm sink from Vigour might cost the installer about 200 EUR, plus installation plus profit for the plumber and the general contractor. At best, you’ll get reimbursed the 200 EUR material cost.

Of course, the warranty issue is a no-go, even if your friendly plumber installs it... and in case of damage, there will likely be endless disputes about whether the house installation or the attached peripherals are at fault... you probably know that already.

Topic "layman installs fittings": Friends of ours did that and ended up with massive water damage because they installed the rosettes incorrectly. They weren’t sealed, shower water ran freely into the wall for months... In the end, they saved nothing but lost money. And before you say anything, the man is a professional craftsman.

Just as an example with us:

[*]ClicClac valve as an additional service: €150 + installation (self-purchase maybe €30-40)
    [*]Washbasin cabinet €1200 + installation (self: €500-600)
[*]Soft-closing toilet seat €120 (self: individually also expensive, combined with the toilet as the plumber buys it €30 more)
    [*]With all the accessories anyway.

These are the points where it is worth saving with us or where it simply annoys me that such prices are charged and I have no desire to throw the field to the plumber (or the bathroom studio that didn’t have half the things there and showed us catalogs).

Ok, if there is assembly on top of everything, that is really outrageous. Otherwise, unfortunately, it is normal. I swallowed that when I saw the 1200 net for my Raindance. And then we also have two of them. But at least the assembly was included for me.
