Hello , we are still quite far from the pool technology in our house planning (currently in the design planning phase), but since we are on the topic.... What should I pay attention to in the current planning status and regarding the technology if we want to have as little work as possible with the pool? Ours will have about 50 m3, we would like stainless steel, but let's see what the prices will be. Do you have a few tips, possibly also about manufacturers?

It's always a question of what you want to spend. Use the house heating system or separate heating. Technology in the house or at the pool. Stainless steel with good technology for 50m3 you definitely have to budget 60-100k. Overflow pool or not. Adjustable pump from Speck, large filter, pool control there are many options. What exactly do you want to know?

Hello ,

I have already read a lot here in the forum, including your house thread and many tips about pools. We are still at the beginning of planning our house (location Hessen, modern, lots of glass, flat roof, hillside) and it will take a while until we reach the tendering stage, but I always like to learn more ;-)

Our pool (approx. 50 m³) will be in the shade in the afternoon due to the structural situation, so no full sun. The plan is for a length of about 11m with a counter-current system. Heating is separate from the house, no gas available, so an air heat pump (according to the rule of thumb about 30 kW). The technology is currently planned to be in a separate room in the house, which only has one access from outside and is also intended to be used as a storage room for garden tools; we will provide a leak detector and shut-off. Area of the room approx. 35-40m². We want as little work as possible with the pool and a as low chlorine content as possible. The following questions interest me in particular:

[*]Advantages/disadvantages of salt electrolysis vs. inorganic chlorine with automatic dosing
[*]On what basis is the chlorine dosed, what is the measuring variable
[*]What space requirements does the swimming pool technology have
[*]Which manufacturers/suppliers do you recommend? One for the complete pool and technology or assembled individually
[*]What pump capacity, filter sizes etc.
[*]What maintenance work is required, what can possibly be done yourself
[*]Anything else you can think of in terms of tips, what should you pay attention to

Thanks!!

P.S.: Edith says it will not be an infinity pool

Salt electrolysis:
- separate electrolysis cell that requires electricity
- electrodes usually need to be replaced after two years
- salt content in the water must be monitored with an additional/separate sensor
- buy salt and dissolve it in the water
- stainless steel pool (even V4S) is unnecessary. The maintenance effort is not feasible for private use
Some say it’s better for the skin because allegedly no chlorine. But that is not true. The chlorine amount in the water is the same.

Liquid chlorine inorganic:
- dosing pump
- buy chlorine canister
- stainless steel pool (V4A or V4S) easily possible

For both variants
- same amount of chlorine in the water
- you need a pH dosing system to control the pH value.

The chlorine amount is controlled in both cases via the redox value. The value indicates via conductivity how fast disinfection can take place. Since the water continuously flows through the measuring cell (when the pump is running), dosing takes place immediately as soon as the redox value falls below the intervention limit.
It works exactly the same with pH dosing.

Since you are not planning an overflow pool, you do not need a compensation tank. Thus, the space requirement is limited to filter, pump, control unit, dosing technology, and the canisters. The heat pump is located outside. Three cubic meters are more than enough here. Thus, there is enough space to access everything easily.

You cannot oversize the filtration system. Better to have reserves under extreme conditions. Better to circulate slowly and longer than short and a lot. With the adjustable pump, you can e.g. increase performance during a pool party.
- filter tank 600mm to 800mm
- pump Speck Badu Delta-MK Eco VS. Adjustable, low power consumption, efficient, and no plain bearing but magnetic coupling. Mechanical seal is always the weak part. This is eliminated.
- rod valve (Besgo) for automatic backwash.
- pool robot Dolphin or Zodiac with wall cleaning

Counter-current system best with propeller. But they are expensive.

Pool control:
- all-round package Bayrol Poolmanager. Everything is integrated here. Dosing technology, measuring cell with electrodes, control, light control, counter-current system, etc.
- Procon-ip allows you to do more yourself. Not so fancy

Stainless steel pool manufacturer e.g. Polytherm. They have their own control system. Extremely reliable but not quite as "modern". They can supply you the complete package. You need to specify pump requirements and such.

Maintenance work:
- change canisters as needed. Fill level is calculated from the dosed amount
- replace hoses in dosing pumps every year. Pool off, cover off, hoses off, new hose in... done both pumps in 10 minutes
- occasionally put flocculant in the skimmer. Flocculation system not necessary.
- calibrate electrodes once a year. Remove electrode from measuring cell, place in calibration liquid and select calibration in control unit.
- cleaning is done 95% by the robot
- cover absolutely necessary. Prevents cooling down, reduces chlorine usage. Sunlight destroys chlorine. Less dirt and biomass entry.

We overwinter the pool actively but unheated. That means circulation continues. When it gets cold, 24 hours. No lowering of water level or anything.

If you have a roof area nearby, fill it with photovoltaics. Thus, electricity for the heat pump. It’s not so cold where you are. If you want to start the swimming season early or extend it late into autumn, you need a stronger heat pump.
You will still need a net and brush sometimes.

Stainless steel is great. Unique water color. Dirt is easy to remove. In the worst case 00 steel wool...

If I forgot something or you have any questions, just let me know.

PERFECT!!! :):):)
Thank you very much, that is exactly the information that helps with the planning! Photovoltaics are clear anyway, the whole roof will be fully covered.
Do you always cover the pool when you don’t use it? Or only at night or only when the sun is shining directly...?

Thanks again!

Always closed. Only when in use or when the robot is inside is the cover open. Without the cover, a lot of heat is lost and there is also more water loss… Depending on the cover, it is also a safety issue so that no one (e.g. children or animals) can drown.
