I think I read somewhere in a book that it's about 50-60 m². The bigger, the better. But those were already the "small" swimming ponds. And the whole thing doesn't get any cheaper. Possibly the chemical costs and the pool robot are eliminated. It must be maintained as well.

Now it's out of the question for me anyway, but maybe later on a larger dishwasher.

It's less about supposedly saved costs for me, and more that I can't handle chlorinated water.

A chlorine pool is not like in a swimming pool. Here you can operate with lower values. If it smells like chlorine, there is too little in it. Alternatively bromine. Saltwater pools contain just as much free chlorine in the water. The difference is that the chlorine is derived from the saltwater.

Since we have 2 small children, I try to add as little chlorine as possible. Last summer we got through the entire season with 2 tablets. The kids were simply assigned the task of scooping out as much crap as possible with their 2 small nets. They enjoy doing it.

What is decisive for success is the filtering system. Better to size it too large than too small. That way you maintain the quality.

We add chlorine as needed. With the above-ground pools, the temperature also matters. At my buddy’s place, the water has already turned despite filtering and chlorine. But his water is almost bath water temperature.

The question is how much free chlorine is present. Is there too much chloramine (bound chlorine) in the water and the chlorine cannot work. You can throw a whole bag of tablets in and the water still turns bad. The chloramines can only be removed by changing the water. Therefore, it is better to chlorinate inorganically and the problem does not exist. In above-ground pools, the filtration system is always undersized. Additionally, the owners often do not run the pump long enough.
