Domestic hot water storage tank or buffer tank for underfloor heating (do you even need that otherwise?)?

Look up the topic on the internet – that way you can answer my questions above for yourself and you will realize that it’s not just a matter of "simply connecting it" and that you have to invest a lot of money (which, of course, is relative for everyone).

Hello,
the last entry was some time ago but maybe I can help from experience.
We have a water-operated fireplace from Olsberg, completely room air-independent according to DIN, so no problems with ventilation, open kitchen, etc. Costs including connection unit (pump, control, connection hoses) 4200,-, costs of the pipes including installation during the construction phase 300,-. In addition, we operate a solar system with 4 panels to support hot water in summer, the storage tank is almost 900 liters and has an integrated 200-liter hot water bladder. Whole house 180sqm with underfloor heating plus a normal gas connection, gas costs in the last 4 years between 280-430,- Euro. Gas is only needed during the transitional period. Between 8-10 cubic meters of wood are burned per year. So it definitely pays off for us. Based on this experience, we are also completely satisfied. For us, the question at the time was this or heat pump, and the construction costs were lower and the result is top.

More than EUR 1000 heating costs per year is not particularly low now, you can already achieve reasonable payback periods for heat pumps if they are even more expensive than a gas connection and an oven installation for almost EUR 5000...

Perhaps for comparison, our electricity consumption for our heat pump (geothermal energy) in the NRW region. The heating has been running in heating mode only since mid-November, before that it was too warm. In two months, we paid about 250 euros for heating and hot water (a little over 1,000 kWh). With this, we maintained 250 sqm of living space (300 sqm floor area) at about 22 degrees and were able to use enough hot water for 5 people. Not bad at all for the first (half) winter

The whole should serve as an experience report for the topic starter. However, I must add that 5000 euros in additional costs is not correct. Because there should be a fireplace anyway. The same one without water also costs 2000 euros as it is a special and truly room-air-independent fireplace. Not many are offered, but this is the decisive point. In addition, the wood costs 40 euros per cubic meter, so I am at about 750 euros per year. Now, comparing the additional costs of a heat pump, this is definitely expensive because the interest and repayment periods for the costs must be taken into account. Almost all calculations for harmonization are based on cash payment for a system, which is of course significantly cheaper, but this is very unlikely in the context of a new building.

I really believe you can only save money with a stove in a well-insulated new building if you don’t pay for the wood. My chimney cost me 3300 and the RLU stove (not yet installed) will cost me another 3000 including installation etc. For that amount, I can heat my house entirely with gas for 10-15 years...

But I want the stove for the coziness and the look. Back then, we also considered getting one with a water jacket, but came to the conclusion that it will hardly pay off....
