Currently, the children are 4 and 6, boy and girl... but we were two girls and yes, everyone had to leave the house in the morning, but there was an order that worked well.

One more question about the stairs: can I make a straight basement entrance at the top under a staircase that turns twice by a quarter upwards and only curve the stairs at the bottom? So that the basement entrance is where it currently goes up next to the front door?

That would mean that the two overlapping staircases are identical at the "foot end" (both turned) and in the middle section (both straight), and there would probably be about four steps at the "head end," for which you would once have to check the headroom. Pause and trace one of the two onto tracing paper and lay it on top of the other. Assign the top step the value "0" and then count backwards, for example with an 18 cm step height as -18, -36, -54, -72. If the straight second to last step (-18) is positioned so that the fourth to last (-54) is already above it, you have therefore lost 36 cm of headroom at this point according to this simplified (!) calculation compared to a parallel alignment. can probably answer you more extensively.

Hello,

a quick update:

We are currently getting used to the option of a staircase with two quarter turns (in the entrance area straight down to the basement, at the dining area quarter turn up, and at the top quarter turn out again) – even though we still feel sorry about the straight staircase. We are still waiting for updated plans and actual passage heights at the basement stairway, but it seems possible.

We have also noticed that we should start working on the kitchen planning more concretely than we have done so far. That’s why I have roughly put together the ground floor with the Ikea kitchen planner (it allows surprisingly much in general, but for example I can’t fit the door to the basement in, the staircase is just a placeholder, so I scribbled in turned steps) – the kitchen cabinets are currently just placeholders for half-height, tall, island...). The windows are still very open as well. When we look at the different variants in 3D, we actually prefer the island facing the garden more than the peninsula facing the dining area. What do you think of the variants?

We also tried to shift the entrance area and the guest WC with shower a bit... I’m still thinking of a shoe cabinet... but that will have to be seen once the guest WC and the door are planned more precisely. Of course, we remain open for good suggestions – this is certainly not the optimum yet.

We are limited not only in terms of budget but also because of the floor area ratio.

Best regards
