Which tiles to choose for the entrance area? What did you choose?

Uniform is nice and all, but we just can't bring ourselves to have the same flooring in the living room as in the guest bathroom/hallway. The former should feel cozy, so wood look, the latter plain. And having wood look in the hallway as well is too much of a good thing.

I'm attaching our floor plan and how we had planned it (the same tiles in the guest bathroom as in the hallway)

Why not have the wood look in the hallway as well, it should also be cozy there. We have the same wood-look tile throughout the entire house and the staircase color-coordinated with it. It is very cozy and you can't see any dirt in the entrance area due to the grain of the tiles.

So with a double-leaf door, I would definitely do everything the same, it just looks more elegant and bigger. But that is entirely your decision, it has to please you and not us.

Best regards

We are considering laying patterned cement tiles in the entrance area and WC. You just have to like them (and sort out the many terrible patterns and poor prints).

Are you sure? Can they be impregnated? I thought they are porous and therefore very sensitive.

You can impregnate the classic (real) ones, but if I understood correctly, the ones currently offered are often not really made of cement. That would need to be clarified, if necessary. So far, as I said, it is just a consideration. Quite a different approach in aesthetics than "as large format as possible".
