No, you can simply apply the other color or another textured paint on the textured plaster. It is just a paint, only with a fine amount of quartz sand.

So the plaster isn’t permanent? In other words, I could just keep painting over the walls with new colors? In which cases would I need to sand off the plaster?
I really can’t do anything with perfectly smooth walls. For example, Knauff also offers roll plaster with 0.5mm grain size – for me, it’s really a great visual option. So basically, there’s nothing against roll plaster for my needs, or do you see it differently?
Due to possibly poor quality of the plasterer, even roll plaster could show streaks and coarse grains, right? But if the Q2 level is done properly (which I will see in all its glory next week), then basically there’s nothing against roll plaster.
We wanted to do it ourselves as well, but a test inquiry on a large portal, 125m2 floor area and 400m2 walls, new house, once completely including material, convinced us with 5K€ in 2019 from the painter. There are 2-man companies, only new houses, who do it in one week, and only get half the money from the general contractor.

Yes, we also thought about it for a long time, but other things in the house were more important to us, which is why we decided to do it ourselves. We have already plastered the entire concrete walls in the basement in the past days/weeks and have now partially painted them as well. It will certainly be another challenge when we get to the painting work on the ground floor + attic – but we are also looking forward to it. We have time... no children, still young – so 5,000€ does make a difference :)
