Apart from a few quirks, my Q2 is also smooth like a... shaved middle-aged man's butt...

We are currently facing the question regarding painter's fleece. Some interior walls are being covered with drywall, as are the ceilings on the upper floor. My idea was to prime the filled drywall walls and then apply a fine brush plaster. The concern is, of course, the possible later cracks in the drywall ceiling or walls. Since we would probably have this done for us due to time constraints, this is likely to be a significant cost factor, which is why it needs to be weighed carefully. What are the general experiences with paint application on filled drywall -without- painter's fleece regarding crack formation??

We have painting fleece and paint on solid walls and drywall ceilings. No cracks on the surfaces, BUT the transitions in the corners partly need acrylic after 2 years

Cracks form at the joints to the solid exterior wall and the wall/ceiling area. It must be said: crack formation is not caused by the paint ;) you just notice it more. But eventually it should also become visible with fleece. I don't find the cracks themselves bad at all. You can go over them all with acrylic after 5 years (before you want to repaint anyway). What definitely bothered me a lot in the beginning were the almost latent (visible to me) panel joints in raking light (window light) and here and there a filled screw.

Same here.
After weighing all the pros and cons, I have now finally bought enough painter's fleece :)
Following various pro-fleece recommendations, we decided on it and hope that this will prevent the otherwise possible dissatisfaction.

Currently, I am in the process of sanding some walls and already, a few weeks after filling, I have to notice some fine cracks here and there. Over time, they wouldn't be fewer, but hopefully, they won't be visible with painter's fleece...

It’s like with many things, if you don’t get it right the first time (or have it done right), you just have to do it twice or more.

Our “wood stud cabin” was completely clad with drywall (simple and only 9.5 mm) in 2009, “tape” was glued into all wall/ceiling joints, everything was neatly filled.

And then the builder got to work.
On our wedding day we painted the entire house (ground floor/upper floor) with primer together.:D

Wall and ceiling coverings were “colorfully” mixed by us. From classic woodchip wallpaper, to non-woven wallpaper, “design smooth filler”(7 layers), cotton plaster (lightly applied by the builder with a smoothing trowel…) to Decoperl (paint with styrofoam beads), everything is there.
Cracks, whether ceiling/walls or joints, none to be found even after 12 years.
