The focus is on the door, where it indeed looks somewhat bulky in the picture. When looking at the room(s) as a whole, the doors have a completely different effect.

If the door were in the middle of the room, then maybe - but in the corner and next to it a shelf?

No.....

As I said, a matter of taste...
When wallpapering, it at least has advantages

Even though nothing has been written here for about 1 1/2 years, I’ll just allow myself to post my question here:

We are building a detached single-family house with a total of 180 m².

Our living/dining area located on the ground floor alone has 41m² and the L-shaped adjoining fully open kitchen adds another 15 m². (Total: 56 m²)

The living area has quite a wide window front facing south; these patio doors all have a clear height of 335 cm (2 patio doors each 112 cm wide, as well as a lift-and-slide door 350 cm wide). I hope this gives you a somewhat better picture of the rooms.

As clear room height, we currently have 260 cm planned; the architect said it could possibly also be 259 cm.

What do you think, is that enough? Or will that already feel oppressive for the described open living/dining/kitchen area? Or does the L-shape possibly help the rooms not feel oppressive so quickly?

I hope you can help me, because we could still change it, even if at an extra cost.

The room is not huge, and making it higher could seem strange. Our living-dining area is about 60m2, and the living room also has a wide window front of 4.5m. We have a room height of 252 cm. I find the proportion quite pleasant. But again, many things are certainly a matter of taste.
