We also have a clear height of 2.70m on the ground floor and the windows are planned at 2.23m.

"Hello, we are currently planning a house with a gable roof (38° " aha, then a room of about 11.5 x 4 m is planned? not exactly a masterpiece, such a tube!!! already "planned" a house?

The original plan even only provides for 11.5 x 3.7! But I definitely want to redesign so that I get about 4.20 to 4.30 width in the living room and dining room. For the kitchen, 4m is okay (it tapers towards the kitchen). If it turns out too narrow, the kitchen can also be sectioned off with a drywall partition. What I like about it: 1) You can also step outside to the south from the kitchen; with the standard L-floor plans, you always have to go through the dining room from the kitchen. 2) Due to the narrow width of the house, the ridge height is low. With 1.5 m knee wall and 38° roof pitch, we stay under the required 8.5 m ridge height. This is hardly achievable with a "standard" width of 10m etc. But I am trying to change the floor plan so that the width is a bit more and the length less... Here is the original floor plan:

That is not true .. with the L you can also easily plan the living area where the kitchen is in the standard layout and vice versa. Then the living area has quiet and the kitchen is located at the terrace.

And, 376 cm width in an 1151 cm long room is really very narrow. You should also enter furniture (table, kitchen) with realistic dimensions. Especially if a practical kitchen island is intended, where you also want to walk past. That leaves barely 180 cm.

I myself have a room about 720 cm long here, but it is 410 cm deep. (Only kitchen and table with East Frisian sofa). 30 cm narrower, for example, would have restricted me in kitchen planning.

Your measurement of 2.26m for the height of the windows will be the raw building measurement, meaning that another 16-18cm will be deducted for the screed, and your windows will be approximately 2.10m high. We have a room height of 2.70m and the windows are 2.33m high. I find the dimensions very nice; it looks very airy.

Best regards

That may be the case, but it doesn't have to be. Often you have to consult sectional drawings because it is not indicated in floor plans what the measurement refers to.

For roller shutter boxes, about 30 cm height is commonly calculated if they are to be delivered connected to the window. About 30 to 40 cm distance to the ceiling is a good dimension if the windows should not look pushed up too high or visually pull down the ceiling.

In any case, I recommend always adjusting room height and window height in conjunction. Taking about 20 cm more in room height (by the way, it does not have to be in 12.5-cm increments) and leaving the window height at the standard dimension would have the described effect of putting a shadow threshold in the way of the light to the ceiling.
