I think it also very much depends on the ceiling design. Do I have exposed beams like Blaupuma or a smooth ceiling... Exposed beams, I think, need more room height.

Do I still have some kind of open space somewhere, like here at caddar, or not? Such an open space also opens up again, if it's one that deserves that name (I recently went to look again in a prefabricated house park and saw so-called "open spaces" there that in my opinion would have been more suitable for pneumatic tubes... nooo, then better not at all). This one definitely does that.

We will probably only have a clear room height of 2.50m because otherwise, we would have even less knee wall upstairs, and it can’t be higher due to setback requirements. Well... I think we will consider it.

Exactly. Good tip: a white ceiling looks higher, and it looks even higher with about a 5 cm white stripe on the walls.

Dark colors bring a wall closer. If the room is narrow and elongated, feel free to paint one wall strongly or darkly. However, the overall look has to be right.

We also have "only" 2.50 m ceiling height. All good.

Thanks for the tips - today we also spoke with our architect and will now try to find a good solution without the airspace. Even though the disappointment was quite noticeable on his part, he remained confident that a solution satisfactory to everyone would be found. We also realized again how important and difficult it is to engage intensively with the planning. Or as my wife said earlier: "This is more difficult than getting married and having children."

Oh yes, the airspace really looks like the architect on the upper floor didn’t know what to do with the area and thought, oh well, let's just take the floor away and look down into the ground floor.

I would actually have liked to see this thread section solo. I almost didn’t respond because I had already given my two cents on it earlier. Also, it still looks different in the old building, i.e. in the existing structure. We’re not dealing with “wish for this, that would be a row of bricks” but rather have to weigh things up. Since I’m only seeing the drawing now, I have to say that the room doesn’t make me feel uneasy. And since that was the case, I measured: we have an incredible 2.45 in the new building [emoji23] For some a no-go, for me as an aesthete it’s okay. Not negative. Regarding the air space: what kind of room is supposed to go there? If it’s more of an office corner, sports, ironing or reading room, then I would take up the architect’s idea with the huge window and pull the gallery further out so that the room ends one meter in front of the glass front. Then you get both – gallery, highlight with the admittedly small air space, but still the great panoramic glass and space [emoji4]
