Hello,
In my parental home, we have a 15-year-old 30 sqm conservatory, which still has double glazing. I have never noticed extreme radiant cold there, nor have we ever received such feedback from guests... The glass is also not comparable to today's. Whether triple or fivefold is, in my layman's eyes, not as relevant as the execution of the glass (coated, uncoated, gas filling...).
We ourselves build with very large glass surfaces (>100 sqm) and have previously visited some comparable houses by our architect... One should not save money on glass. The extra cost for better Ug should definitely be considered. But the frame is where the real matter lies. As already mentioned, the stability becomes increasingly problematic with larger windows, although 3x2m is not that large yet. From our experience, plastic was practically not possible for some windows, wood only with thicker profiles, and aluminum would be the "best" option. In terms of price, it was exactly the opposite.
You cannot rely on prices from the internet; they are not comparable... You know nothing about the quality of the frame. When renovating a condominium, we "cheaply" bought windows and quickly noticed the differences (opening and closing windows, doors, and so on). Additionally, there are many small parts and the installation... This can also get really expensive, especially with large windows... For some of our windows, a crane truck and a "tracked vehicle" will definitely be necessary, as the glass is too heavy to carry by hand beyond a certain size. To give you a comparison price: the cheapest offer for 2.5m x 3m aluminum including installation is around €4,000 + VAT. The most expensive costs a bit more than twice that amount.
