Thank you very much for your idea.

The niche is versatile - the idea of a wardrobe accessible from the hallway was already thought of by my husband, but I also wanted a cabinet there in the hallway and didn't want to lose the floor space in front of it to a possible door, since the hallway is quite narrow. So ultimately, it's a corner for cellar replacement (my husband has a lot of tools) or a "back wardrobe" or a shower later on (pipes are being prepared) or something else - I preferred access through the utility room rather than through the hallway. We would have had to remove the door from the hallway to the utility room anyway, as it wouldn't be structurally possible to have two doors next to each other there.

It has rather nothing to do with the garden. You are building such a pretty house and I just have to come out with my (fixed and partially already known in the forum) idea to visually separate the house from the carport/garage, maybe with a green climbing plant trellis or something similar, depending on how much space there is. In my opinion, your pretty house is visually "damaged" if the cars/carport/garage are in the same field of view. I would find it nicer if there was no direct path from the parking lot towards your house, but instead the house was separated by greenery. I can’t really interpret your site plan. You probably don’t have a sidewalk and therefore no heavily trafficked road, right? Luckily, I was able to achieve at our place that the separation is made and we just have to walk a few steps on the street. But don’t ask how hard that was and how long it took. When it is finished, I will upload a picture. Addendum: A carport is often also a gathering place for clutter, especially if the man has a lot of tools.

Lots of tools, but no spirit level, mind you ;-)

I wish you much success, strong nerves, perseverance, and also fun.

In between, I really thought I couldn’t go on anymore. Now I am sitting in my (almost finished) wooden house and am happy to be able to live here every day.

By the way, we painted the interior with Diotrol Wallcare. I was very careful, but it was still not easy to dose and sometimes became a bit streaky. Spraying might possibly help with that. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with it.

If you have any questions, you can reach us via our blog or Instagram, with the keywords Ligneus and Holzhausblog that should work without getting in trouble here. We do not know everything, but we have done a lot ourselves.

Best regards from Brandenburg.
