When the tenders are imminent, it is a bit late, which is noticeable:
- The sight lines throughout the entire ground floor are not very successful. Whoever is working at the preparation or cooking island is looking at a wall. Whoever sits at this island can only look out slightly diagonally or at a 90-degree angle. Whoever sits on the sofa can only look far away out the window, and the TV is also pushed so far into the corner that a direct view of it is hardly possible.
More "looking outside" is almost only possible with more windows. But we do not want to build a glass house. The cooking island ends directly at the window (south side), turning less than 90 degrees to the right to see out southwards can therefore satisfy no one. The kitchen window on the east side is still good to look out onto the street. And luckily the TV is only on paper located that far left :)
The dining area is also no highlight in terms of view, the outer kitchen wall creates a blinders effect; the other people look into the room interior.
I can live with that :)
- The cloakroom is badly divided, or rather, the door to the storage room is poorly integrated.
We still consider making it look like a large wall cupboard in the execution, let’s see how it will ultimately be. We find it functional in that spot.
- The stairs are more of an emergency solution, but if someone likes it.
I addressed that at the beginning :)
- The shelf above the fireplace is hard to reach.
That will look different in the final execution as well.
- The use of the area between living and dining is unclear to me; part of the window would be needed more urgently elsewhere.
That area is for dancing :)
- Upstairs, the access to the bedroom creates unrest, the sleeper is disturbed by the person changing clothes.
But we also didn’t want a walk-through dressing room.
- The children’s rooms, workroom, and bathroom all have access in a corner, which restricts usability.
That doesn’t make sense to me. The hole has to be somewhere in the wall :)
- One child sleeps under a window
As long as that is not unhealthy, everything is fine :)
But nice that you like some corners. Ultimately, our plan is a composition based on our taste, our idea of functionality, and our experience from some rental apartments. And we had to make compromises too.
The small “room” on the left in front of the utility room resulted from the position of the stove. It is just big enough to still use it for little things without simply walling up the square meters :)
Thanks already for the answers.
