A 10-minute savings in commute time is already extremely significant when it comes to costs alone; I would immediately prefer to put an extra €50k on the property if given the choice. I also find the time saving incredible considering what accumulates there. With 40-hour jobs including 1 hour of unpaid break, you have to see where you can get free time from. Currently, we have an 11-minute commute, which is super comfortable.
Unfortunately, there are also the extremely increased installment costs. About €2200 installment or 10% more really hurts with a net income of €5500-5700.
We have already given up on the dream house anyway. We want a garden and no direct neighbors next to, below, or above us.
Well, what is it then, either you hardly have any time. Then you have 40-hour jobs where you can usually easily spend 20 more minutes driving every day without blinking. Or you have no money because it is really tight. Then it is understandable that you don’t want to bear any additional costs. So why do you want to own a house?
A bicycle pays off positively: the mileage allowance is higher than the wear and tear costs. Health and leisure are factored in as well. I would definitely try riding the 23 km by bike to see.
