I would not even consider leasehold. The houses are usually very difficult to resell.

How do you come to this conclusion?
Especially in times of rising interest rates again, leasehold is particularly in demand. I cannot confirm the difficulty of resale.

In rural areas, ground leases are a bitter pill. A colleague had to sell his parents' house. Since it stood on a ground lease plot with 40 years of term remaining, he had to practically give away the house in a good location. For most interested parties, the 60-year-old house was already "too old," and banks valued it very low due to its age, and for demolition or major renovations, the option of a ground lease was ultimately too uncertain for most. One might say that this would not be a problem without heirs. But in the end, the colleague especially lacks the money for maintenance.
