Hello everyone,

my girlfriend and I are currently putting together a new kitchen at Ikea. After reading a lot here, many have chosen a different dishwasher than the one from IKEA. This makes installation very difficult.

[List:9yql848c]Can someone tell me why you do this? What advantage does it have? What about the current machines that IKEA offers, aren't they good (5 years warranty)?[/List:u:9yql848c] We would opt for the Rengöra, Skinande or Välgjord.

I would be interested to know why you decided against these products, are they not that great?

Thank you all.

The Ikea dishwashers are, except maybe for the LAGAN, in my opinion quite okay. Considering the 5-year warranty, they are also inexpensive.
Why many IKEA kitchen buyers generally choose other electrical appliances is partly because Ikea does not have a large selection. The upper mid-range is also not served.
For example, with dishwashers, there is none with zeolite drying or with A .
For example, if you don't want a cutlery drawer, then you cannot take the otherwise very economical Välgjord.... etc.
So for many, there is simply not what they would like.

But it is no different with ovens. It is just less noticeable in the forums because installation is less problematic.
The appliance manufacturers do not all offer the same. And if you deal with the individual appliances, it eventually becomes clear which features you would like and what price you are willing to pay. When you can choose from 30 devices, that is simply more convenient than if it has to be one of 3 Ikea devices.

Then there are personal preferences for the brands. Ikea as an appliance brand practically does not exist: there is always Whirlpool or Electrolux behind it. Two brands where the emotional attachment in Germany is not particularly strong...

The German customer needs the name Siemens, AEG, Miele, Neff, etc. to be on "their" appliance. That creates the impression of buying quality. How much sense or nonsense it makes to measure quality by a brand is another matter.

All IKEA appliances come from AEG/Electrolux or Bauknecht. Whirlpool is synonymous with Bauknecht; the appliances differ only minimally in appearance in some cases but are much more expensive just because Bauknecht is on them...

Whether brand loyalty still makes sense nowadays... no idea.
The fact is, however, that many people would "never buy brand XXX again" and also many have had the "best experiences with brand YYY." Statistically, that doesn't mean much. But it still significantly influences purchasing decisions.

Electrolux and Whirlpool are giant corporations that have gathered many brands under one roof. Sometimes it is completely opaque and intertwined. For example, the Italian Indesit now belongs to Whirlpool; a brand that in the past was rather seen here as cheap. Privileg, originally the house brand of Quelle, sourced many of its devices from Electrolux. Today Privileg belongs to Whirlpool.

Therefore, I would not go out on a limb and claim that Ikea devices are actually from AEG or Bauknecht or identical to these. They could just as well have been made by one of the many other manufacturers under the Electrolux/Whirlpool umbrella... and whether they are then better or worse, no one knows either.
By the way, the price differences are no longer what they might have been 3 or 5 years ago. If you compare the manufacturers' "recommended retail prices" with those of Ikea, yes. But no one buys like that anymore. The "street prices" online or in stores are often 50% below the RRPs, while you rarely get a discount at Ikea.

In my opinion, Miele occupies an exceptional position. Both in terms of prices: the differences between RRP and street price are much smaller. And also in terms of quality.

The dishwasher models from IKEA are all not large-capacity dishwashers. There have been multiple reports of very poor drying performance, and customer service is said to have always stated that this is normal.
